Week 2 Clean Country Kitchen Challenge Update

As I go into week 2 of my clean country kitchen challenge, I am proud of myself. I am doing very well and actually ENJOYING the kitchen so much more now. Spending a few minutes at a time, all the way through the day to clean up and wash dishes as we use them is saving me SO much time. Now, in the evenings, I can do more things I want to do (like blogging, duh)! No, really, I am feeling way less stressed also. I am spending more time with Owen and Joy after supper since clean-up takes very little time.
Staying on Task
I am emptying the dishwasher as I can and re-loading as needed (no set schedule). However, if the dishes in the dishwasher are clean and I haven’t put them away yet, I am hand-washing throughout the day and leaving dishes dry on the counter. Even though we have little counter space, this is still MUCH better than leaving dirty (rinsed) dishes in a pile on the counter. Taking out the trash as needed throughout the day and spot sweeping are also keeping me on task with this challenge. When and how often I do both of these things vary depending on how much we are home, what we eat, etc…
There are other things I need to do daily to keep our kitchen running properly. One is to go through the fridge every day or every other day. It is important to make sure we are using things that need to be used and organizing. I am starting to get better at this. Another necessity is keeping the microwave clean. I generally just do a wipe down as needed and then every so often I do a deep cleaning. Keeping the coffee maker in working order is a VERY high priority for me and Owen. We both love our Starbucks and drink it every morning. I also have been having a cup in the evenings lately and blogging. So, getting the coffee ready to go for the morning is a daily routine for me (at least during the work-week).
Overall, thus far, I am doing very well staying on task with my clean country kitchen challenge. How are you doing with the challenge? What keeps you on task? I would love to hear from you!
